  • Please DO NOT expect any luxury, though the hotels we offer to you are of the best standards available in the town approved by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (NOT including the new boutique luxury hotels).
  • Bring some formal dress (that covers your body fully) for visiting temples and holy sites
  • Most of the hotel’s beds are not very soft and quite small in size
  • You will be traveling at an average altitude of 2,250 Meters 
  • Spring/Autumn/Winter are cold in the morning and evening so please do get some warm cloths. Refer to the temperature chart for extreme weather condition
  • If you like spicy food, then you get to enjoy Bhutanese cuisine
  • Bring books to read in the evening as most of the hotels don’t have TV
  • Public displays of affection between opposite sex or similar sex are frowned upon. Please refrain from doing that in public places
  • Please refrain from buying any articles from street vendors (It is rare, let us keep it rare)
  • Do not hand gifts, sweets or money to strangers and children. If you want to present please consult your local guide
  • Bhutan is very safe and you can trust people easily for they don’t cheat you. Your belongings are safe in hotel/car but on a BAD day, anything could go wrong so we always suggest you to carry your camera, wallet, passport and your valuable goods with you all the time
  • Sleeping bag if camping or trekking 
  • Sleeping mattress if you prefer thick one on your trek
  • High SPF sun block/Flash light
  • Two/Three pin round plug for charging, 220 V
  • Import of cigarettes and any other tobacco related products up to 200 (ten packets) cigarettes on payment of 200 percent duty is permitted
  • Alcoholic beverage up to 1 liter for personal consumption
  • Mosquito and insect repellent if you are traveling during June – September
  • If you are flying from Kathmandu and if you wish to enjoy the view of the ten highest mountains peaks of the world then while boarding ask for following seats: 6 – A, 7 – A, 8 – B, 19 – A, 20 – A, 21 – A, 22 – A
  • There are NO facilities for Credit cards although only few handicraft stores accept VISA card with 5% common charge
  • Only US dollars/Pounds/Euro cash and TC are accepted. Indian currency is at par with Bhutanese currency and commonly accept everywhere.  Please note that Indian Rs 500 and Rs. 1000 bill is not accepted  
  • International mobile cannot be used around Bhutan. Very few selected service works in Bhutan. If you need, it’s best to use local simcard.

The current exchange rate is US$ 1 = Nu. 46.5
